NEWS RELEASE

SAULT AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

*************************
The Sault Area Chamber of Commerce received notice of a potential local scam involving fake representatives from Cloverland Electric.

Please see the information below:

Cloverland Electric informed attendees at a recent discussion that there is a utility scam going on in the community right now.

The scammers are calling area residents and claiming to be representatives from Cloverland.

During the call they advise customers that there is a problem with their bill and that their electricity will be cut off if immediate payment isn't made.

They then ask for personal and credit card information.

Cloverland has stated that Cloverland does not make these types of calls and also stated that persons contacted by these scammers should contact Cloverland immediately and let them know.

It is suggested that you should also contact the police if you receive one of these calls.

The Sault Area Chamber of Commerce received this information on Tuesday, February 25, and is notifying members and community contacts to please be aware of potential scams.

Contact Cloverland Electric at 906-635-6800 if you receive one of these calls or if you have any questions.
