The International Railroad Bridge between the two Saults has been identified by the U.S. State Department as a potential target for terrorists.

That information has come to light through the latest WikiLeaks release of secret government papers.

The leaked State Department document reveals international infrastructure sites considered "vital" to U.S. security, whose loss "could critically impact" America's economy, public health or national security.

The local rail span across the St. Marys River is among many potential terror targets listed that include other bridges, border crossings, pipelines, dams, nuclear facilities and factories.

American and British officials have described the most recent WikiLeaks release as "dangerous" and "a gift to terrorists."
