OPP AND CITY POLICE NEWS RELEASES

************************ Must be close to Christmas, even the bad guys are good

Sault Ste Marie, Ont. - We have checked the OPP 'happening list' twice to see who has been naughty or nice for the past 24 hours.

It appears that even the bad guys realize that it is getting close to Christmas because there was no anti-social behavior to report within the Sault Ste Marie OPP patrol area.

Maybe they are all busy getting their floats ready for tomorrow night's Santa Claus Parade in downtown Sault Ste Marie.

That’s what our group of volunteers are doing up here at the OPP office.

See you along the parade route.

************************* City Police advise that the Santa Claus Parade will be happening in the downtown area on Saturday evening.

The parade will start at 6 p.m. however the parade participants will be forming up at 5 p.m. sharp.

The public is reminded that after 5 p.m. Queen Street East between Pine Street and Pim Street will be closed to any traffic.

As of 6 p.m. this area as well as through to Gore Street will also be closed for the parade.

Anyone who needs to access the downtown area is asked to avoid Queen Street and use Wellington Street East instead.

People who need to attend the hospitals will access to the hospital via Kohler Street.

As of 5 p.m. any persons who are in the downtown area will need to leave via Gore Street, as Queen Street E. will be closed if they attempt to travel along Bay Street.

********************* Pssst!

Don't tell the kids, but the criminal element inside the City limits wasn't as well behaved last night. For details, check out the City Police Beat link at the left of this page.
