NEWS RELEASE

CITY OF SAULT STE MARIE

*************************
The October 5, 2016 NHL pre-season game between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Buffalo Sabres will bring more to the Sault than just hockey.

The Essar Centre event will also provide local charitable groups with fundraising opportunities before and during the hockey game.

Charitable involvement will include program sales, canned food drives, a variety of in-stadium activities and a community pre-game street party.

Giving back to the communities that host these games has always been important to John Graham – President, On Ice Management.

“Anytime we do an event, a core part of that event is to recognize and give back to the community. Working with teams like the Carolina Hurricanes and the Buffalo Sabres allows us to get creative and involve numerous groups within the city," said Graham.

Does your charitable organization have a fundraising idea that will enhance the NHL event and raise community funds?

For additional details, contact Jennifer Muio Arbour, Marketing and Events Assistant, at [email protected] or 705-759-5383.

The Essar Centre staff will attempt to accommodate as many requests as possible from local charitable groups; however, participation is limited and not guaranteed.
