************************** Oncologists and clinical trials nominated for “best” award SAULT STE. MARIE - (April 14) – Oncologists and the clinical trials department of the Algoma District Cancer Program (ADCP) have been nominated for a clinical participation award for community based oncology research through the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

The ADCP’s clinical trials program was nominated along with one other Canadian site and numerous other American institutions.

“This prestigious nomination is an honour in itself and a major accomplishment for Sault Area Hospital’s relatively small community centre,” says Linda Watts, interim vice president clinical programs. “We congratulate our wonderful oncologists and the entire staff of the clinical trials program on this achievement.”

ASCO is the largest clinical oncology group in the world.

The majority of leading edge development news and breakthroughs in cancer research and treatment are presented at the ASCO’s annual meeting.

Over 12,000 oncologists attend this meeting each year.
