War Memorial Hospital's first baby of the new year arrived about 30 minutes too late to be Michigan's first baby of 2008, says proud dad Travis Tobias.

"Someone downstate beat us by about half an hour," Tobias tells SooToday.com.

Alexandria Leigh Tobias, or Lexy as her mom and dad like to call her, was born at War Memorial Hospital at 2:11 a.m. yesterday.

She weighed six pounds, five ounces and was 18 inches long.

When we talked to her dad this morning, both Lexy and mom were sleeping comfortably.

Her mom, Lisa Marie McClusky, is a student and will be graduating this spring says Travis.

Dad works in shipping and receiving down in Reno, Nevada, so Lexy and Lisa Marie will be staying in the area until the summer, when they move south to be with Travis.

For the time being, mom will stay with grandpa in Kinross, Michigan, and continue her studies while looking after little Lexy.
