Last evening at the Essar Centre, the infamous Blue Man Group brought its How To Be A Megastar Tour to 2,500 Saultites, turning each and every one of them into rock and roll superstars.

With more humour and percussion you can shake a drumstick at, the audience followed three Blue Men through step-by-step instructions on how to create the perfect rock concert experience.

These included Rock Concert Movement #1: The Basic Head Bob, Rock Concert Movement #2: The One-Armed Fist Pump, Rock Concert Movement #4: Behind the Head Leg-Stretch, and Rock Concert Movement #78: The Fake Ending.

While the origins of the classic two-fingered rock and roll hand gesture have been widely debated throughout rock history, the show revealed the gesture's true genesis: it was inspired by Floppie the Banjo Clown, who influenced numerous heavy metal legends known today.

Due to Floppie's influence, Rock Concert Movement #37: Flashing the Floppie the Banjo Clown Hand Puppet, was created in order to pay tribute to the unsung hero.

The evening was an intriguing and wildly entertaining spectacle of theatrics, satire, music and stunning visuals with plenty of audience participation.

And percussion.

Lots and lots of percussion.

The Blue Men didn't disappoint as they hammered out rhythms and melodies on their signature Drumbone and a massively complicated PVC pipe percussion lab.

Backed by a stellar eight-piece band and state-of-the-art technology, the How To Be A Megastar Tour was a definite feast for the senses.

Upcoming Essar Centre entertainment includes Three Days Grace on December 8, KISS on December 15, and Billy Talent on March 22.
