Lil’s Asian Cuisine opens its doors on March Street (4 photos)

Lilia Hill’s passion for cooking is having a tasty impact on locals.

Formerly known as Lil’s Kitchen, Lil’s Asian Cuisine specializes in traditional Filipino dishes.

From soups and noodles to chicken and curry dishes, Lil’s offers a wide assortment of Asian cooking.

Their spring rolls and Pad Thai are so far among their most popular items.

Lil had been running the business out of her home for the last several months before settling at her new location on March Street.

Like most new restaurants in the Sault, Lil’s flavourful menu quickly spread by word-of-mouth around town. Her food gained popularity so quickly that it became hard to keep up with orders, and she knew it was time to move into a larger location.

Lil says it’s the uniqueness of the dishes that makes them stand out. 

“There’s very few Filipino dishes in town,” she says. “We try to bring something that other restaurants don’t have.” 

Lil had her own Filipino restaurant for 11 years in southwestern Ontario before moving to British Columbia for two years to work in a kitchen. In 2020, she transitioned to the Sault. 

Lil says she never imagined moving to the Sault to continue her business, but it’s safe to say she’s grateful that she did. 

“The people here are very friendly and encouraging,” she says. “The customers are my extended family.”

Business has been booming since Lil began operating out of her new March Street location last week. She credits her hardworking team for making this endeavour a successful one. 

“Our team works very well together,” she says. “We support each other.”

The restaurant’s grand opening is slated for this Thursday.

Lil’s Asian Cuisine is located downtown at 112 March Street. Their hours of operation are 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday, 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sundays, and closed on Mondays.
