Life-threatening injuries in North Hwy crash

************************* WHITE RIVER, ON - On July 2, 2010, at approximately 9:35 a.m., Superior East OPP in White River were dispatched to a single vehicle roll-over on Highway 17 in Hunt Twp just south of White River.

A northbound 2004 Elantra had lost control and rolled over in the west ditch.

There were three occupants in the vehicle.

The driver, a 22-year-old male from Sherbrooke, Quebec, sustained life-threatening injuries as a result.

Two male passengers, both 22 years of Sherbrooke, Quebec, received minor injuries.

The three males were taken to Lady Dunn Health Sciences Centre in Wawa and the driver was subsequently flown to Sudbury, Ontario for further treatment.

Names are not being released pending notification of next of kin.

************************* RIDE/general enforcement

SUPERIOR EAST - Officers throughout the Superior East patrol area conducted several RIDE checks during the holiday weekend resulting in no drinking and driving offences being noted.

Officers did issue several provincial offence notices for various Highway Traffic and compulsory automobile insurance infractions.

Officers also confiscated a small amount of marijuana during a routine traffic stop resulting in possession charges contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.
