Latest SAH 50/50 winner planning a trip home to the Philippines

It's been an exciting experience for the latest winner of the Sault Area Hospital Foundation's 50/50 draw winner.

Sault Ste. Marie's Floricel Bahay, a dietary aide at a local long-term care facility, is the December winner of the draw, which is for $139,482.50.

Floricel, who goes by Flora, said she couldn't believe her luck.

“Everyone at work was congratulating me and hugging me," Bahay said. "They even announced it to the residents, and they clapped for me. It’s been so exciting."

Bahay said she hasn't been able to travel home to the Philippines for over five years and is planning to use some of her winnings to take a trip home with her family this summer.

She also plans to put aside some of the money for her son's education and buy herself a new car.

December's early bird draw saw Scott Thibeault of the Sault win $15,000.
