Clayton Lapensee is on the stand in his own defense today.

For the second time, Lapensee is being tried on charges of driving while impaired and fatally injuring Anita Proulx and injuring Amanda Proulx.

He was the only defense witness called by his lawyer, Bruce Willson and his testimony lasted the morning.

Lapensee recounted his version of the events of November 25, 2005, detailing his trip to work in the morning, his return home feeling ill, snow-blowing his driveway and running errands.

Around noon today, Crown Attorney Bill Johnson began cross-examining Lapensee, immediately zeroing in on apparent inconsistencies between statements Lapensee made during his first trial and statements he made this morning.

Johnson also pointed out apparent inconsistencies between stories Lapensee told different people during the day.

"You're having a hard time making your stories sick together like you did the first time, aren't you?" Johnson asked Lapensee.

"No," responded the accused.

"We'll see about that," Johnson said to him.

Lapensee was found guilty of these charges in January 2008 but the Ontario Court of Appeals struck down that verdict and ordered a new trial in September 2008.

The trial continues with Lapensee's cross examination by the Crown.
