SooToday.com has received the following e-mail and photo shown from a loyal reader who is helping Canada to present the 2010 Winter Olympic Games:

************************* Hello fellow Saultites! I'm writing from wonderfully balmy Vancouver, where I am fulfilling my duties as a volunteer member of Team 2010.

The electricity of the Olympics is in the air and I can feel it everywhere I go. I'm so excited to represent Sault Ste. Marie at such a wonderful event for Canada. I've had the opportunity to speak with people from all over the world and meet fellow Canadians from some well-known areas, and some not-so-well-known areas. My biggest excitement so far was being able to see live the dress rehearsal of the opening ceremonies.

I've never been so proud to be Canadian, and then to see the actual ceremony itself on TV for a second time instilled such pride and joy within me that the next coming weeks of my adventure mean that much more. I've attached a photo of me with the torch in my Team 2010 uniform.

The graciousness of Canadians is truly evident when I asked the torch-bearer if I could get a picture with her and she handed me the torch, grabbed the camera and told me to strike many poses.

Fantastic! I really hope that everyone back home is enjoying the Games from a distance, and I truly hope that I will run into people from the Sault. On a final note, it's been wonderful to stow away the winter coat and boots.

Did you know they have palm trees in Vancouver! Best wishes to everyone,

- Krista Cattapan (née Becker)
