****************************** Assault with a weapon

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 27-year-old Tyler Ames of #1505-70 East Street on the 6th of December at 5:40 p.m. at 70 East Street and charged him with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of threatening death or bodily harm and one count of breach of probation.

It is alleged that on the 6th of December around 4:40 p.m., the accused got into a verbal argument with a male known to him in the lobby area at the 70 East Street complex and during this incident, the accused pulled a knife from his waistband, made a stabbing gesture toward the victim and threatened to stab him.

Police were called by a person in the complex that heard the confrontation, but the accused left before they arrived.

While police were investigating the incident the accused returned and he was subsequently arrested.

There were no injuries reported in the incident.

************************* Domestic assault

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 35-year-old male at 2 a.m. this morning at the residence of his ex-girlfriend and charged him with three counts of assault.

It is alleged that on the 6th of December the accused attended at the victim’s residence and assaulted her.

Officers investigating the incident learned that the accused [allegedly] assaulted the victim on two other occasions during their relationship, in December and March of 2009.

************************* Domestic assault

A 32-year-old male was arrested by officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service this morning at 5:30 a.m. at the police station after turning himself in on domestic-related warrants.

He was charged with two counts of assault and one count of threatening death or bodily harm.

It is alleged that on the 30th of November the accused got into a verbal argument with his common-law partner, threatened to kill and assaulted her.

Officers investigating the incident also learned that the accused assaulted the same victim in July of 2011. ************************* Domestic assault

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 45-year-old Debbie Lewis of 228 Sydenham Road yesterday at 3 p.m. on Queen Street West and charged her with one count of assault.

It is alleged that at approximately 2:38 p.m. on the 6th of December while on Queen Street West, the accused assaulted a female known to her.

The victim received non-life-threatening injuries as a result.

The accused is to appear in court on the 17th of January.

************************* Two arrested at youth home

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested two males last evening at a youth home and charged them with one count of mischief and one count of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

It is alleged that on the 6th of December while in custody at the youth home, the two youths damaged a Wii console and some blinds.

Both were on probation at the time of the incident with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

They are to appear in court on the 18th of January.
