************************* Domestic-related arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 24-year-old male at 5:20 am yesterday morning at his residence and charged him with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of assault, two counts of breach of probation, one count of mischief, one count of resisting arrest, one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession of stolen property.

It is alleged that police received a call regarding a domestic disturbance at his residence.

When officers arrived they were met by a female outside the residence and discovered that she had been [allegedly] assaulted and injured by her boyfriend.

The accused also [allegedly] held a knife to the victim’s throat and threatened to kill her and damaged her cell phone when she tried to call police.

The female was able to leave the home and contact police.

Police also discovered that earlier in the day, the accused [allegedly] broke the victim’s vehicle window and stole her purse that was inside.

When officers attempted to arrest the accused, he refused to let them in.

Officers gained entry and once inside the accused [allegedly] resisted and fought with them.

Police also found the accused to be in possession of stolen property from some recent thefts.

Officers recovered a set of golf clubs, tools, two power washers, fishing rods and a DVD player.

************************* Domestic-related arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service stopped and checked a vehicle on John Street at 11:27 a.m. yesterday morning that resulted in the arrest of both occupants.

It is alleged that the male driver was on probation with conditions that he not associate with his female passenger due to domestic-related charges and the female passenger was wanted for failing to appear for fingerprints from the 7th of December and she was also wanted on outstanding probation and parole warrants for failing to report between the 12th of October and the 2nd of December 2010.

The 51-year-old male was charged with two counts of breach of probation and the 36-year-old female was charged with one count of breach of probation and one count of failing to appear for fingerprints.

************************* Theft reports - Vehicles were broken into on March Street and Kohler Street. An iPod and medication were reported stolen.

- Two aluminum ladders and an extendable plank were stolen from an apartment complex laundry room on Village Court.

************************* Mischief reports

- A vehicle on Wellington Street East had a door handle broken off and a window broken.

- Youths in a black truck threw rocks and eggs at an Allworth residence window on and two downtown businesses.
