************************* Driver faces several charges

THESSALON, ON - On Sunday, a member of the East Algoma Thessalon OPP stopped a motor vehicle at the Junction of Highways 17 and 129, Thessalon, Ontario.

The driver, Kevin E. Thomas (33) of Thessalon, Ontario faces the following charges under the Criminal Code of Canada:

- Operate motor vehicle while impaired, Section 253(a).

- Operating a motor vehicle – over 80 mgs, Section 253 (b).

Thomas also faces several other charges, which include:

- Driver fail to properly wear seatbelt – Highway Traffic Act.

- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor – Liquor Licence Act.

- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit – Highway Traffic Act.

- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance – Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

Thomas was released on a promise to appear in Thessalon Court on June 26, 2008 to answer to the criminal charges.
