************************* Snowmobilers - tell someone where you are going

ECHO BAY, ON. - On Tuesday, the 26th February at approximately 4:30 p.m. the OPP in Sault Ste. Marie received a call from concerned family members of 39-year-old Kevin Bodnarchuk of Echo Bay.

No family members had any contact with him since Saturday evening.

A police check of his residence revealed that his vehicle was not at his residence.

On Wednesday the 27th of February the OPP received a call from Mr. Bodnarchuk at 1 p.m. indicating that he had gone fishing on his snowmachine and it broke down on a trail north of Desbarats.

He spent two nights in the bush in his portable ice fishing hut.

He used his propane heater for heat and made a fire after his heater ran out.

He had his dog with him also.

He had not told anyone where he was going.

The OPP would like to remind snowmobilers to always inform someone of your destination.

Include where you are going, the route, a description of your snowmobile and your expected time of return.

Always be prepared for the unexpected.

Be smart.

Ride Safe.
