NEWS RELEASE

************************* 25-year-old Joshua Smith of no fixed address has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of resisting arrest, one count of threatening death or bodily harm and one count of escape custody.

It is believed that the accused on the 9th of August entered a vehicle on Albert Street East and stole a wallet.

The accused left the scene on a bicycle but was located a short while later by police but fled the area on foot.

The accused was located a short while later hiding in a vehicle on Hughes Street.

While being taken into custody the accused [allegedly] threatened to assault the officers and [allegedly] resisted the arrest.

The accused was brought down to the courthouse to be held until his bail hearing.

While being held at the courthouse the accused escaped the custody of officers and fled on foot but was eventually apprehended a block away on Albert Street.
