************************* Driver charged with several offences
THESSALON FIRST NATION, ON – On January 7, 2008 shortly after 10 p.m., a member of the East Algoma – Thessalon OPP attempted to stop a motor vehicle on Biish Road, Thessalon First Nation, Ontario.
The motor vehicle turned into a driveway and the driver fled behind a house.
Subsequently the driver, Joseph Noel Wabigwan (48) of Thessalon First Nation has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle, Section 253(1)(a)
- Over 80 mgs, Section 253(1)(b)
- Flight from police, Section 249.1(1)
Wabigwan has also been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with driving while under suspension.
Wabigwan was released on a promise to appear in Thessalon court on February 19, 2009.
