Vehicle-pedestrian collision

On the 25th of August officers with the Traffic Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were called the area of Second Line West and Peoples Road for a motor vehicle collision that involved a pedestrian. 

Through investigation officers have found that 21-year-old Jordan Paim was crossing Northbound on Second Line West of Peoples Road on foot through live lanes of traffic. 

The male failed to use the provided crosswalk that was about 60 feet away from the area of the collision. 

The male was nearly struck by several eastbound vehicles and was ultimately struck by a westbound Honda Accord. 

The vehicle suffered major damage and Mr. Paim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Sault Area Hospitals by ambulance.

Jordan Paim of 321 Wellington Street West unit 3 has been charged with pedestrian fail to use crosswalk where a crosswalk is provided contrary to section 144(22) of the Highway Traffic Act. 

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind the public that pedestrians have a duty to use the crosswalk where it is provided and to cross traffic only when it is safe to do so.
