Bishop gained prominence as a comedian after starting his career in a stand-up act with his brother Maury.

In the late ‘60s, Bishop had his own late-night talk show on ABC.

He also starred in a situation comedy -The Joey Bishop Show - on NBC and CBS.

Bishop guest-hosted on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson more times than anyone else.

The long-running comedian appeared on television as early as 1948 and was a frequent guest on various talk, game and comedy shows.

Comedy Central has listed Bishop 96th among the 100 greatest stand-ups of all time.
