Jim Miller, the well-known local forest steward and cycling and trails advocate, is dead at the age of 60.

Miller's body was found last night by searchers in his tent in Lake Superior Provincial Park south of Wawa.

A post mortem will be conducted Monday in Sault Ste. Marie to determine cause of death.

Foul play is not suspected.

Miller (shown in foreground attending a local screening earlier this year of Al Gore's documentary An Inconvenient Truth), is being transferred to Sault Ste. Marie today by helicopter.

He had been dropped off near the park on Thursday and was due out at 1:30 p.m. yesterday.

A search involving a helicopter, canine unit and emergency response team was mobilized after Miller was reported missing at 5:30 p.m. yesterday.

His tent was located in the last remaining minutes of daylight, around 9:30 p.m.

Miller was a former general manager of Clergue Forest Management Inc., responsible for care, maintainance and responsible harvesting of 746,644 hectares of local crown forests.

He was community cycling director at the Sault Cycling Club and chaired the Sault Trails Advocacy Committee.
