With events in Sault Ste. Marie, Marquette and Petoskey, Republican State Senator Jason Allen today announced his bid to replace Congressman Bart Stupak.

With events in Sault Ste. Marie, Marquette and Petoskey, Republican State Senator Jason Allen today announced his bid to replace Congressman Bart Stupak.

Stupak, who has represented Michigan's 1st Congressional District for 18 years, announced earlier this month that he will not seek re-election

Other congressional candidates in the same district include:

- Gary McDowell (Democrat) - Connie Saltonstall (Democrat) - Joel Sheltrown (Democrat) - Dan Benishek (Republican) - Linda Goldthorpe (Republican) - Don Hooper (Republican) - Tom Stillings (Republican) - Patrick Donlon (Republican)

Meanwhile, Frank Foster, business manager for his family’s construction company in Pellston, announced today that he will seek to replace Gary McDowell, representing the 107th District in Michigan's State House of Representatives.

A Republican, Foster has secured key Chippewa County endorsements including Tony Stackpoole, Kathy Gaylor, George Kinsella, Jim Moore and John and Don Sawruk.
