Former Sault Ste. Marie mayoral candidate and longtime Ward 1 councillor James Caicco has a new job.

Effective February 1, 2011, he and Joe Ruscio will become the owners of Century 21 Pronorth Realty Inc. locally.

Their partnership will also bring Centum Canada mortgage services to the city.

Caicco will lead the real estate arm as the broker of record while Ruscio oversees lending services.

“Our business plan is to turn Century 21 into the real estate leader in Sault Ste. Marie,” Caicco told SooToday.com news.

In the spring, Century 21 will move from its current 405 Queen Street East location into the Dawson & Keenan Insurance building at 121 Brock Street (Dawson & Keenan will be going into the RBC building on Great Northern Road just north of the Second Line).

"This [Brock Street] will provide an ideal location and will help us take the business to the next level," Caicco noted.

The Sault native and Algoma University business graduate worked with ReMax for about 10 years.

Caicco was first elected to City Council in 2000 and retained his seat through 2010 when he ran unsuccessfully for the mayor's post.
