Sault Ste. Marie’s Brad Jacobs ran his record to 3-0 at the world men’s curling championships in Victoria, BC on Sunday thanks to a pair of victories.

Jacobs opened the day having to come from behind to defeat Finland’s Aku Kauste 8-6. The Jacobs rink, which features third Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden and lead Ryan Harnden, had to overcome a 4-1 deficit early on to pick up the victory.

“It's really not a performance that we're proud of,” Jacobs told The Canadian Press. “You never like to struggle like that. But, still, we came back, we fought hard, and we got the win.”

The evening draw saw the Jacobs rink defeat Scotland’s David Murdoch 9-4 in a battled between two previously unbeaten teams.

Jacobs scored deuces in the third, fifth and seventh ends en route to the win, which sends the Canadian entry into day three with a 3-0 record and top spot in the standings.

“We bounced back wonderfully (from giving up the second-end deuce). We got a deuce, we forced, we got a deuce, and that’s curling right there, at its best. That’s really the name of the game,” Jacobs told the Canadian Curling Association website following the win over Scotland. “We did everything right today. After our first game, we ate lunch, we relaxed, we had a nap, we had a nice workout before the game. I think we all felt great going into that game. I have to give a lot of credit to my guys; they played phenomenal. They made it pretty easy on me as a skip. That was an awesome game.”

Next up for Team Canada is a meeting with Switzerland on Monday at 5 p.m. (eastern time). Also on Monday, Canada faces the United States at 10 p.m.
