NDP Leader Jack Layton is expected to announce any moment now that he's been diagnosed with prostate cancer, CBC News is reporting.
It was not immediately known whether Layton will step down as party leader.
"Yes, he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer," blogs CBC's Kady O'Malley from Toronto's Estonian House," where Layton is holding a news conference.
"The same kind that his father had, fought and eventually beat. And his treatment is already underway. He won't be stepping aside as leader, but he suspects he may have more time than he was expecting to watch and be inspired by the courage and dedication of Canada's Olympic athletes."
