************************* Male faces criminal charges after struggle with police

BLIND RIVER, ON - On April 15, 2010, at 9 p.m., police received a call of an intoxicated male who was trying to flag down motorists on Highway 17 in the Spragge area.

Officers from the Blind River detachment patrolled the area and located the male walking eastbound in on the paved portion of the road.

The officer activated the emergency lights to warn traffic and exited the cruiser.

The male turned and walked towards the officer shaking his fists and shouting.

Other officers arrived on the scene and the intoxicated male was instructed to leave the roadway but refused.

The male was then arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.

As he was being arrested the male began to fight with officers before being placed in the cruiser.

Charged is 40-year-old Peter Poulin of Elliot Lake.

Poulin is charged with:

- Resisting a peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code

- Being intoxicated in a public place, Section 31(4), Liquor Licence Act

- Solicit a ride, Section 177(a), Highway Traffic Act

- Pedestrian fail to walk on left side of highway, Section 179, Highway Traffic Act.

Poulin is scheduled to appear in Blind River court on July 8, 2010.
