CORNIACCHIO'S HAP KI DO SOO DAN HAP KI DO ACADEMY

****************************** Major International Martial Arts Tournament Hits Downtown Sault Ste Marie August 10 to 14

The first ever International Hap Ki Do Canadian Open will be held in Sault Ste Marie from August 12 to 13 at the Essar Centre.

The tournament is expected to attract up to 1,000 visiting participants and fans from around the world, and it includes a week-long opportunity for the community, all martial artists and their families to celebrate Korean martial arts.

The event is open to all martial artists, of all styles, of all ranks.

Hap Ki Do is a Korean martial art that combines unarmed and armed attacks, joint locks, strikes and throws, as well as other techniques.

It has enjoyed a surge in popularity in recent years.

The public is encouraged and welcome to come to all the events listed below and celebrate Korean martial arts.

There will be many performances, demonstrations and other attractions taking place at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion on Wednesday, August 10 and the evening of Saturday, August 12, as well as the competitions and opening ceremonies at the Essar Centre from August 12 to 14.

People will see a spectacular and exciting display of competitions.

“Even if someone isn’t familiar with Hap Ki Do, they will enjoy the competitions, many of which have never been seen in Canada,” said Master Peter Cornacchio, Regional Director for the International Hap Ki Do Federation (IHF). “People really get behind the five and six year olds when they see them breaking boards. In addition, they can also expect to see a performance by famed martial artist Mariah Moore, who does magnificent things with swords.”
