CITY POLICE

NEWS RELEASES

************************* Motor vehicle collision

Yesterday at approximately 9:30 p.m., City Police responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Great Northern Road and McNabb Street that resulted in the two drivers and one passenger receiving minor injuries.

It is alleged that the driver of a Dodge Dakota pickup that had been travelling eastbound on McNabb Street ran the red light at the intersection of Great Northern Road and struck a Hyundai that was in the intersection, attempting to make a left-hand turn from McNabb onto Great Northern Road.

The driver of the truck, 29-year-old Ryan Vessey of #4-193 Wallace Terrace was charged with one count of failing to stop for red light under the Highway Traffic Act.

************************* Drivers adjust to weather/ road conditions

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to advise and remind motorists to please slow down and adjust your driving to the road conditions.

A lot of fresh snow did fall overnight and road conditions may be slippery, especially near intersections.

Drivers should take time to clear snow and ice from all windows, mirrors and the roof of their vehicles and are asked to wait until the fog/frost clears from the window before travelling.

Allow yourself a little extra time.

Drive safely and be extra cautious in the school areas.
