SAULT STE. MARIE MICHIGAN FIRE DEPARTMENT

*************************** The City of Sault Ste. Marie allows, by ordinance Section 12-45 ("kindling fires on private property"), small outdoor fires for the purpose of cooking food.

Permits are required for these fires and are regulated by the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department under the direction of the fire chief.

Yearly, permits are issued with an effective date of May 1 through October 31 of each year.

Due to the extremely dry conditions and no significant forecasted precipitation, no permits for the 2010 season will be issued until further notice.

Applications for burn permits will still be taken through the Fire Department office.

All approved permits will be sent out when the burning ban has been lifted.
