Impaired charge laid in crash that killed Scott Roberts

The Edmonton Sun is reporting this afternoon that police have charged a 19-year-old man with impaired driving causing the death of Sault Ste. Marie's Scott Michael Roberts.

RCMP have charged Mitchell Catcher, who will appear in court in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta on June 26.

Catcher is accused of driving his car the wrong way on Highway 37 near Fort Saskatchewan, when it was involved in a head-on collision with Roberts' motorcycle.

Scott Roberts was thrown from his bike and pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred around 2:50 a.m. yesterday.

Corporal Scott Roberts, a soldier stationed at CFB Edmonton, is the son of SooToday.com's Carol Martin.
