WHITE RIVER – On May 16 at 10:30 a.m., officers patrolling Highway 17 in Vasiloff Township had occasion to stop a southbound Toyota Matrix travelling in access of 50 kilometres over the posted speed limit.

This resulted in Burim Dukaj, age 35, of Richmond Hill being charged with operating a motor vehicle while performing a stunt.

The vehicle was impounded and the accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for seven days.

He will appear in traffic court at a later date to answer to the charge.

*************************** Breach of probation CHAPLEAU – On May 15 at 11:06 p.m., the OPP investigated a report of a group of youths kicking a fence on Lorne Street.

A patrol was made and as a result one young person was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and charged with breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

*************************** Motor vehicle collision CHAPLEAU – On May 16 at 3:54 a.m., the OPP investigated a motor vehicle collision involving a 1993 Chrysler Intrepid and a moose.

The collision occurred on Highway 101 in Cochrane Township and resulted in minor injuries to the female driver and moderate damage to the vehicle.

The moose ran into the bush.

Several RIDE checks throughout the Superior East patrol area resulted in 840 vehicles being checked with no infractions noted.
