Yesterday morning, officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 37-year-old male on one count of assault and one count of overcoming resistance to commission of an offence (choking).

It is alleged that on Saturday June 12 the accused assaulted his wife by kicking her several times and later choking her around the neck.

The victim did not require medical attention.

************************* Male to appear in bail court

Yesterday afternoon, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 28-year-old Terrance Saunders of 128 Melvin Street, Sudbury on several outstanding warrants.

It is alleged that Mr. Saunders failed to appear for court on October 19, 2009 on two charges of theft under $5,000, two breach-of-probation charges and one fail-to-appear-in-court charge.

************************* Young female arrested for theft under $5,000

Yesterday afternoon at 4 p.m., officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended at the Sears store in the Station Mall and arrested a 15-year-old female.

It is alleged that the accused placed jewellery, perfume and a video game, valued at $157, in her purse and then left the store without paying for the items.

The accused will be appearing in court on July 20 at 9:30 a.m.

************************ Break and enters

- Sheds were entered in the 500 block of Maki Road (construction equipment was stolen), the 400 block of Landslide Road (copper wiring was stolen) and the 100 block of Taskar Drive (unknown if anything was taken).

- A home in the 100 block of Pittsburg Avenue was entered. Cash was reported stolen.

************************ Mischief

- Vehicles were reported damaged in the following locations: the 100 block of Westridge Road, the 100 block of Oakland Avenue, the 100 block of White Oak Drive, the 100 block of Poplar Avenue, the 100 block of Fort Creek Drive,

- Homes were damaged in the 400 block of Wellington Street East, the 100 block of Weldon Avenue and the 900 block of North Street.

*********************** Theft

Vehicles were entered in the following locations:

- 100 block of Second Line West. - 100 block of Westridge Road. - 500 block of John Street. - 100 block of Estelle Street. - 100 block of Putney Road. - 100 block of Ferguson Avenue. - 100 block of Terry Fox Place.

Personal papers, cash and electronic items were stolen from the vehicles.

The public is once again reminded to not leave any valuables in their vehicles.

A bicycle was stolen from the 100 block of Timothy Place.
