******************* Train derailment - Webbwood
(Espanola) – Yesterday at 6:15 p.m., a westbound Huron Central Railway freight train derailed behind a house located on Highway 17, Webbwood, Ontario, approximately 100 hundred metres east of Birch Lake Road.
The Sable-Spanish Rivers Fire Department attended the scene and put out a small brush fire with the assistance of the train crew.
A total of 15 cars, carrying generators, derailed.
There were no hazardous materials involved, no roads were blocked and no injuries reported.
The Huron Central Railway and Transport Canada have been notified and are at the scene today to conduct their own investigation as to the cause of the derailment and are continuing the clean-up.
