************************* A feast for the ears: Rotaryfest’s line-up is scrumptious

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON - (July 9) – Whether on The Stage or at Tenaris Second Stage, Rotaryfest’s entertainment is first class!

The best of old and new music merge at Rotaryfest, The Sault’s Summer Festival!

Whether you prefer 80’s rock classics, modern folk, country, jazz, pop, alternative rock, funk or blues, your ears will be thoroughly satisfied July 14-16.

The Stage, sponsored by OLG, the Arts Council of Sault Ste Marie & District, and Canadian Heritage, features an all-you-can-hear-buffet of your old favourites, be it Eagles’ classics by Hotel California (shown), country hits by Thin Ice, or groovy blues with Matt Storch & The Usual Suspects.

Occurring right in the centre of the festival at Clergue Park, from Thursday evening to Midnight Saturday, you can listen to hit music while grabbing grub, or competing at the SportsZone.

You can also feast on the entertainment of the Cirque performers, take a ride at the Midway, or entertain the kids at the Essar Steel Algoma PlayZone.

Check out Rotaryfest.com for the complete Stage line-up and schedule of events.

The menu at Tenaris Second Stage on Queen Street is no less spectacular, with international sensations Sweet Thing and My Son the Hurricane, and the award-winning Big Wheel and the Spokes and Kalle Mattson.

Expect some surprise performances and entertainment sprinkled in to keep you craving more.

While enjoying the spectacular sounds on Queen, you can give your eyes a treat at the Tenaris Queen’s Walk Art Exhibition on Saturday.

Twelve talented locals will be displaying their creative works at this unique venue.

With such a tantalizing line-up, one difficult questions remains: how can you be at both places at once?

Put on your sprinting shoes and be prepared to dash between the two venues to catch your favourites – one way to work off the calories from funnel cakes, Italian sausages, deep fried pickles and other guilty pleasures available at this year’s Rotaryfest!

************************* // Run, walk or wheel right down the middle of Queen Street on July 16

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON - (July 9) – Runners, walkers, wheelers and assisted-wheelers of all ages are invited to participate in the second Rotaryfest Miracle Mile immediately before the Community Day Parade on Saturday, July 16, 2011.

Presented by RBC Royal Bank, this family-oriented fun event will include the St. Louis Blues’ Matt D’Agostini as celebrity marshal.

The Sault Ste. Marie native enjoyed his best NHL season to date during the 2010-11 season.

Setting out at 10:45 p.m., Rotaryfest Miracle Milers will follow a pre-parade route along Queen Street from Woodward Avenue to the Essar Centre.

“To encourage a strong turnout, we have lowered registration fees this year to $15 for individuals and $30 for families with three or more entrants,” said event Co-chair Lynn Hollingsworth.

“We have also invited youth sports teams and other organizations to join us. The Miracle Mile gives them an opportunity to generate money for their own needs, while also contributing to some of the fund-raising Rotary does in support of youth services in Sault Ste. Marie and the surrounding area."

More information about the Rotaryfest Miracle Mile and online registration details are available at www.rotaryfest.com, by calling 705-945-1279 or by visiting the Rotary office at 364 Queen Street East.

Registration can also be done by mailing a completed registration form (downloaded from the website) to the Rotary office.

Late registrations will be processed on Friday, July 15 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Delta Waterfront Hotel lobby and on Saturday, July 16 between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. in the lobby of the former Plummer Hospital.

All finishers will receive a commemorative medal.

As well, D’Agonstini will be available to autograph photos during wrap-up activities outside the Essar Centre.

More than 80 people completed the inaugural Rotaryfest Miracle Mile a year ago (as seen in photo provided by Rotaryfest).
