Details of each of the 24 water features in Sault Ste. Marie's first splash pad were unveiled at the Civic Centre tonight.
Components have been ordered and are expected to arrive here by May long weekend.
Site preparation in Bellevue Park will be done by city workers and will start as soon as frost is out of the ground, said Virginia McLeod, the city's manager of recreation and culture.
"It's going to get really busy over the next little while," McLeod told a meeting of the city's splash pad subcommittee.
Construction by CRCS Recreation of Sudbury, with local assistance from Pioneer Construction, will start at end of June.
Building the splash pad will take about three weeks, McLeod said.
No one's promising when the new facility will open, but city officials are hoping to have toes in the water sometime in July.
But the last playground construction job in Bellevue Park took longer than expected.
"We ran into some really large boulders when we did the last playground at that site," McLeod said.
"Moving some of those large boulders did cause us to be delayed by a few days."
The Subway fresh-food chain has donated $1,000, bringing the total of the project to $394,000.
The city's green committee will provide bike racks.
Officials are checking into the possibility of providing wifi and a charging station for e-bikes and scooters at the new facility.
