How Alan McLean's head was saved by a helmet

CITY POLICE NEWS RELEASE

************************* Yesterday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. City Police attended at the intersection of Wellington Street East and Pine Street for an accident with injuries involving a car and a bicycle.

A bicycle operated by Alan McLean, age 41 of Country Club Place was traveling eastbound on Wellington Street East and as he approached the intersection at Pine Street a car travelling westbound on Wellington Street East turned left in front of him.

Mr. McLean was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of his injuries.

It is believed that the helmet Mr. McLean was wearing prevented serious head injuries.

The driver of the car, 86-year-old Gilda Luzzi, of Pim Street has been charged with turn not in safety under the Highway Traffic Act.
