Sault Ste. Marie Fire and Police Services remain on the scene of the fire and are continuing their investigation.

Extensive damage was reported to the home and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office has been called in to determine the cause of the fire.

Placid Avenue, from Lake Street to Pageant Drive remains closed while the investigation is ongoing.

************************* Original 7:30 a.m. release - House fire

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was called to assist Fire Services at a house fire in the 500 block of Placid Avenue at 4:21 am this morning.

All five occupants who were inside the home at the time of the fire were able to get out and no injuries have been reported.

Placid Street, from Lake Street to Pageant is currently closed.

Fire and police services are still on scene and are asking the public to avoid the area as they are conducting an investigation at this time to determine the cause of the fire.

************************ Breach of a release document

On the 14th of June at approximately 12:30 p.m., members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service street team and patrol services executed a warrant at a local motel after receiving information that two persons wanted on outstanding warrants were in one of the rooms.

The male and female were located inside and were arrested as both sureties for them had been revoked in relation to several outstanding matters and at the time they were bound by conditions of recognizance orders not to stay away and not communicate with each other.

The female also had conditions to be in her place of residence at the time and was not to attend at the male’s place of residence.

The male, 34 year-old Shawn Blais and the 32 year-old female, Carrie-Lynn Boudreau of #35-1547 Trunk Road, were both charged with three counts of breach of a release document.

************************* Mischief Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 29-year-old Alicia Sales of #1-73 Spring Street at her residence on the 14th of June at 8:48 p.m. and charged her with one count of mischief.

It is alleged that on the 14th of June at approximately 7:26 p.m. the accused damaged a Bell payphone at a downtown hotel.

The accused is to appear in court on the 20th of July.
