Hooray for Dennis Labay, who just won $60K

One local resident is $60,000 richer after winning the jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) May 50/50 draw.

Dennis Labay, a longtime supporter of the 50/50, pocketed $59,618. He doesn't have plans for his winnings just yet, but paying off some bills and travelling are at the top of his list

On May 31, 2024, Dennis Labay of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. won a $59,618 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) May 50/50 draw. Dennis’ lucky number (M-3880027) was drawn electronically, and he was called immediately.

Dennis is a long time supporter of the SAHF 50/50 and has been playing since the program launched, almost 5 years ago! He doesn’t have plans for his winnings yet, but paying off some bills and travelling are at the top of his list.

Dennis wasn’t the only winner this month – May’s Early Bird, Patricia Dumanski of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., was the lucky winner of $10,000 on May 15, 2024 with ticket M-8005021.

“Going into our fifth year of 50/50 draws, it’s incredible to see the positive impact on our players,” said Teresa Martone, Executive Director for Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “While it’s always great to celebrate our winners, we are all winners when it comes to supporting our local hospital. Each ticket purchased from our lottery programs continues to make a difference for our community – thank you to all who support.”

Tickets for SAHF’s June 50/50 draw are on sale now! Get your tickets before June 12th for a chance to win the $10,000 early bird prize – plus every ticket has a chance at the growing jackpot.

Tickets are 10 for $10; 60 for $20; 200 for $40; or 750 for $75. In addition to online sales at www.soolottery.ca, tickets can be purchased in person at the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Office (750 Great Northern Road) from 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Ticket buyers must be 18 years of age or older and in the province of Ontario to play.
