Homeowner stabbed during burglary. Woman charged

************************* At approximately 1:30 this morning, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended at a residence in the 400 block of Charles Street regarding a break and enter in progress.

Upon arrival, officers located and arrested a 38-year-old female.

It is alleged that the accused broke into the victim’s residence and when confronted by the victim she stabbed him with a knife.

Victim suffered lacerations to his hand and head and was taken to hospital for medical attention.

The injuries were not live threatening.

Cindy Diamond, age 38, of 161 St. George’s Avenue West, upper apartment, is charged with one count of break and enter and one count of aggravated assault.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in this matter as it is believed that two other persons were involved in the break and enter.

The two male suspects fled the scene with a small amount of cash.

Both were described as wearing dark hoodies and jeans.

One male was described as being approximately 5’7” tall and the second was slightly shorter.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigative unit.
