Home invasion leads to heavy police presence on Carufel Avenue

Police believe suspects were involved in a home invasion and extended assault at another address

On July 21, City Police officers attended to a residence on Borden Avenue after receiving a report of a home invasion.

Investigation revealed that two males wearing balaclavas entered the residence around 6 a.m. and allegedly tied up and blindfolded the homeowner.

They then demanded cash, jewelry and prescription medications and then continuously assaulted and threatened the homeowner for an extended period of time.

The two males then allegedly locked the homeowner in another room and left the residence with multiple stolen items.

The victim was eventually able to free himself and contacted the City Police.

Further investigation by Detectives resulted in officers from the Criminal Investigation Division, Emergency Services Unit, Canine Unit and Patrol to attend at a residence on Carufel Avenue on the evening of July 22.

After approximately an hour of police presence two males exited the residence and were taken into custody.

50-year-old Nicholas Pears, of Carufel Avenue and 26-year-old Michael Turmaine of East Street have been charged with break and enter, disguise with intent, robbery, threatening, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement.

They both appeared in WASH Court on July 23.
