Highway 17 south of Wawa open (update)

Superior East (Wawa) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police advise of the following Road Advisory:

Location:  Highway 17 approximately 18 km’s South of Wawa

Brief Description of Event:  Highway 17 closed by Ministry of Transportation Oontario (MTO) in order to complete road repairs.

Detour (if available): Hwy 101 to Hwy 129

That area of the highway was re-opened at 21:45 today.

10:30 a.m. MTO update

The Ministry of Transportation wishes to advise that Highway 17 has reopened to one lane south of Wawa with traffic flagging. 

The road is expected to reopen to two lanes later today.

The road had been closed since May 27 at noon for an emergency culvert replacement.

8:30 a.m. OPP release

Superior East (Wawa) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police advise of the following Road Advisory:

Location: Hwy 17 approximately 18 kms South of Wawa

Brief Description of Event: Hwy 17 closed by MTO in order to complete road repairs (as of 7 a.m. on May 29 - open to one lane)

Detour (if available):  Hwy 101 to Hwy 129 -- now open to one lane

Estimated duration of Road Advisory: Unknown

The O.P.P. will distribute details and updates of the road advisory as information becomes available.
