High school hockey roundup: Schedule hits exam break

Wednesday night in high school hockey action, Joshua Dewling picked up the shutout as the St. Mary’s Knights blanked the White Pines Wolverines 10-0. Jaron Rowe had three goals and an assist for St. Mary’s in the win while Jesse Delavalle added a pair of goals. Jason Uhl had a goal and two assists in the win while Matthew White, Michael Avati, Mitch Robinson and Cody Poirier also scored in the win.

On Monday, Jack McLeod scored all five goals as the Korah Colts beat the St. Basil Saints 5-2. Jay Johnson set up three goals for the Colts while Aaron Savage added a pair of helpers in the win. Chris Kraemer had the lone goal for St. Basil in the loss.

In action last week, Friday night saw Korah pick up a 5-2 win over White Pines. McLeod had two goals and an assist in the win while Johnson had a goal and two assists. Brad Carter and Mitchell Oliverio also scored for Korah in the win. Don Towell and Tate Sears scored for White Pines while Jordan Aelick had two assists in the loss.

On Thursday night, Rowe had three goals and two assists to pace the St. Mary’s Knights to a 7-1 win over St. Basil. Uhl, Erik Paradis, Poirier and Eric Lemieux also scored for St. Mary’s in the win while Josh Fisher had the lone goal for St. Basil.

A trio of games on Wednesday night saw St. Mary’s beat Superior Heights 6-1 in the early game thanks to a pair of goals from Paradis. Poirier, Jake Lewis, Avati and White also scored for St. Mary’s in the win. Kyle Vanderburg had the lone goal for Superior Heights.

Wednesday’s middle game saw CASS pick up a 3-2 shootout win over Korah. Nick Siemens and Bryce Campbell scored in the shootout for CASS while Siemens and Wesley Mitchell scored in regulation time. McLeod had both goals for Korah in the loss.

Wednesday’s late game saw Travis Quevillon pick up the shutout as St. Basil blanked White Pines 3-0. Mario Taranto, Taylor Lamorie and Blake Antonello scored for St. Basil in the win.

On Tuesday, St. Mary’s needed a shootout to beat Korah 4-3. Rowe, Lewis and Delavalle scored for St. Mary’s in regulation time while Savage had a pair for Korah. Cam White also scored for the Colts.

Monday night saw Zack Quesnele pick up the shutout as Korah beat CASS 3-0. Savage had a pair of goals while White also scored in the win.

The high school hockey schedule now breaks for exams before returning to the ice on Feb. 2 with a pair of games at the Essar Centre. That night, St. Mary’s will face off with CASS at 5:30 before St. Basil and Superior Heights meet at 7 p.m. Those games will lead into the final week of the regular season with the playoffs scheduled to kick off on Feb. 10.
