On Jan. 8, 2019, officers with the Patrol Services Division of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 50-year-old William Gregory of Maple Drive, Heyden for impaired driving.

Just before 8 p.m., the accused was involved in a motor vehicle collision on Great Northern Road near Fifth Line. It is alleged that the accused was travelling south on Great Northern Road and then crossed into the oncoming lane. The accused then collided with a motor vehicle that was travelling north on Great Northern Road at that time.

Officers arrived and developed grounds to believe that the accused’s ability to operate the motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. He then refused to provide a sample of his breath when officers demanded it. He was taken into custody and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of refusing to provide a breath sample.

He will appear in court on Feb. 11, 2019.
