This morning Frank Cornacchi filed his nomination papers to run for City Council in Ward 1.

Although the entrepreneur and self-proclaimed political scrapper lives in Ward 6, he's going for Ward 1 because he says it's the ward that needs his help the most.

"If you want representation, vote for me," says Cornacchi. "If you want prima donnas, vote for the other two."

He says that veteran Ward 6 Councillor Frank Manzo told him he gets more angry calls from Ward 1 consituents dissatisfied with the responses they get from their representatives than from any other ward.

Cornacchi says he's a fighter who's been wishing for a voice in Council chambers for many years but hasn't felt it was the right time until this election.

He says he won't be in anyone's back pocket and will use his voice to make sure his consituents are represented effectively.

Cornacchi says that next week, many of the people seeking a seet on City Council will be getting together to work on strategies to unseat the councillors who occupy the spot they want.

"The people presently on council better take these 'newbies' seriously," said Cornacchi. "We are going to make things very interesting."

And Cornacchi intends to keep it interesting with a 'recall' option to every one of his constituents if he is elected.

"Inside every information package I deliver will be a guarantee that I will represent my constituents," he said. "If I don't produce, they can recall me with no questions asked."

- losing my two sons were the most difficult experiences in my life. I loved them very much and they are a part of me inside, and I keep their memories alive by staying true to the values and ideals I taught them.

- I admire people who are faced with adversity and find a way to overcome it

- I draw strength from those who are honest, are giving, and want to make this a better community

- I believe in true representation, and representing the will of the people, not that of cliques within Council, or unelected City staff.

- I am an independent thinker, and will not be influenced by anyone except for what is right for the ward that elected me

"Trust in me, because my values are connected to doing what is right. If you want true representation, elect someone who will not be influenced by anyone. I am not for sale, and will only serve the interests of the people. I live in Ward 6 but I am comfortable with the leadership and representation that it receives. I have chosen to run in the Ward that I feel has the least representation: Ward 1. I am guided by principle, and I believe I can best serve Ward 1 constituents by providing a voice to the people."
