NEWS RELEASE

HURON-SUPERIOR CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) has set the schedule for public consultations pertaining to the hiring of a new Director of Education.

Meetings will take place in early January 2017, with the public, employees and other stakeholders in Catholic education invited to participate. People who are unable to attend the public meetings will be able to include their feedback through an on-line survey.

“When the Board learned of Director Stadnyk’s intent to retire, it relied on best practices from other Boards that were shared last February at a Ministry sponsored conference on governance. We learned that public consultation was an important component of what other Boards included in their recruitment of a new Director of Education. Ensuring that all Catholic education stakeholders have the opportunity to give their input is very important to this process,” said HSCDSB Chair John Caputo.

The first public meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017. In Espanola, Trustee Lindsay Liske will facilitate the meeting which begins at 6 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic School.

On the same night in Elliot Lake, Trustee Kathleen Rosilius will facilitate the meeting at Our Lady of Lourdes French Immersion School. The meeting starts at 6 p.m.

Meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic School in Massey and St. Mary’s Catholic School in Blind River. Both meetings begin at 6 p.m. with Trustee Liske the host in Massey and Trustee Rosilius the host in Blind River.

On Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, Board Vice-Chair Gary Trembinski will host a meeting at the Mount St. Joseph Centre covering Sault Ste. Marie. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.

Also, on Jan. 12, Trustee Carol MacEachern will host a meeting in Hornepayne at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School with video-conferencing to St. Joseph French Immersion in Wawa, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School in Chapleau and St. Basil’s Catholic School in White River.

As mentioned, for those unable to attend any of these meetings an on-line survey can be accessed by going here. This link can be accessed by visiting the Board website at www.hscdsb.on.ca
