Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Agawa - Lake Superior Park
  • Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island
  • Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay

Rain at times heavy is expected today into tonight.

Rainfall amounts ranging from 10 to 25 mm have fallen so far this morning in advance of a strong low pressure system currently over southern Minnesota state. An additional 25 to 50 mm are possible this afternoon and evening before the rain tapers off overnight. Thus total rainfall amounts up to 75 mm are possible near and along the eastern shores of Lake Superior.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
