Hearst shooting for Kraft Hockeyville 2009

************************* Hearst organizes pep rally to promote Kraft Hockeyville 2009

HEARST, ON - The Town of Hearst has successfully submitted 989 stories to the Hockeyville 2009 competition sponsored by CBC Television, Kraft Canada the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players' Association.

For its fourth consecutive year, Kraft Hockeyville is searching for the community that best embodies the spirit of hockey and hometown pride.

To participate, communities across Canada were asked to submit hockey stories and pictures to the CBC.ca Kraft Hockeyville website (click here).

The first phase of the competition being completed, the Town of Hearst is now patiently waiting to find out if it will be selected among the Top 10 communities for the next phase.

In the meantime, the local Hockeyville organizing committee is preparing a Pep Rally that will be held on Saturday December 20 at 3 p.m. at the Claude Larose Arena during the Élans game against the Marathon Superior Eagles.

The pep rally will be filmed and then published to social networking sites such as Youtube and Facebook.

This visual documentary of Hearst hockey spirit will be used to motivate and encourage other communities across the region to vote for Hearst during the next phase of the competition, January 14 to the 20, 2009.

Tickets are $2 per person for the game and will be available at the door.

The committee is asking the community to bring a non-perishable food item (preferably Kraft) that will be donated to the local food bank, Le Samaritain du nord.
