************************* Thirty-six-year-old Roy Hamilton of 549 Douglas Street was arrested on the 24th of June at 1:12 a.m. on Fourth Avenue and charged with one count of assault with a weapon and two counts of breach of probation.

City Police received a call last evening just after midnight to a residence property in the 300 block of Fourth Avenue regarding a male assaulting another male with a baseball bat.

It is alleged that when police arrived, they learned that the accused was asked to leave a party that was going on in a yard due to his level of intoxication and causing problems.

The accused left, but returned a short while later with a bat, got into a confrontation with a 32-year-old male known to him, and struck him in the hand with a baseball bat.

The victim received non-life-threatening injuries as a result.

Police located the accused, in an intoxicated state in the area and arrested him.

At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions that he not consume any alcohol and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

He is to appear in bail court this morning.
