A 23-year-old male is facing criminal charges after allegedly showing up at his ex-girlfriend's place in the wee hours this morning and ringing her doorbell for 20 minutes.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service says it happened before 3 a.m. at a centrally located residence.

Unable to rouse his ex, Mr. Ding-a-ling is said to have gotten into his car and repeatedly honked his horn.

Then, he returned and tried the doorbell once again. When police arrived, the woman told them that several weeks ago, the man had assaulted her by pushing her in the chest and hurting her thumb.

He's now facing charges of criminal harassment and assault.
