************************ SAULT STE. MARIE – Western Arctic MP Dennis Bevington will join MP Tony Martin [shown] to co-host two roundtables on energy and the environment this Friday and Saturday.

Governments are focusing more attention on energy conservation and renewable energy sources.

There are opportunities for new revenue streams and biodiversity and Bevington will speak about federal programs.

The roundtable on energy for Sault Ste. Marie will be held Friday, March 30, in the Russ Ramsey Board Room, Civic Centre, 99 Foster Drive, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The round table on energy Saturday, March 31, is at Echo Bay Hall, 257 Church St., from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, including a lunch.

For more information or to register for either round table, please contact Tony Martin's office at 941-2900. "Dennis as a former mayor and also as a consultant has a good deal of expertise in these matters," Martin said. "This will be a good opportunity to hear about new federal initiatives and to provide feedback to Dennis with your issues and concerns."

Bevington, NDP critic for Northern Development, and deputy critic for Natural Resources (energy), has been an advisor to the Premier of the Northwest Territories on energy issues and has served on the Green Funds Council of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

He has also served as a board member on the Northern River Basin Study and as a federal government representative on the Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Committee.

Bevington was mayor of Fort Smith where he had the first solar wall in the NWT installed on the new Recreation Centre.

He is president of the Stand Alone Energy Systems, a renewable energy consulting company specializing in community energy planning and renewable energy installation. Martin and Bevington will also attend a fundraising pancake breakfast for the Desbarats arena Saturday March 31.
